It has been a busy time at West Buckland with our annual Owners Day having taken place last week. I was very pleased to welcome well over 100 people to the yard and despite the odd rain shower a tremendous day was had by all. We paraded all the horses in the yard and it was good for all the current owners to get together and meet each other and it was an ebullient atmosphere throughout the day. On top of this we welcomed several new and prospective owners to the yard. We were on a high at the yard as Bleu Astral had won his last two races and in doing so provided me with my first flat winner so the recent winners have definitely generated an enormous amount of interest in the yard and has attracted lots of new faces. Everyone who came made the day a great success and the Owners Day Brochure we produced will shortly be available to download from the website in PDF form as well.
As a result of our Open Day I am delighted to say that several horses have been sold to stay in the yard. Honourable Exit and Lough Derg Island have both been sold in full and the remaining shares in Goonjim have now been sold. There was also lots of interest in Black Narcissus and there are now only a handful of shares left in this promising mare. Full details on Black Narcissus are available on my For Sale Page.
Since the highly successful Owners Day I headed off to the sales at Doncaster and have added four new and exciting horses to the yard. All four of our new arrivals are For Sale to stay in the yard.
Royal Chief is a consistent horse who has placed form over both fences and hurdles and is sure to continue earning Prize Money.
Mystery Drama is a lovely willing dual purpose mare who has more than a touch of class and has already been placed in Listed company over hurdles.
Spring Steel has finished second in two of his last three starts and is still a novice over fences and hurdles so has plenty of options going forward.
Jaslamour was a fine third beaten less than 5 lengths by a dual winner on his last start and is progressing nicely with each race.
