Nikos breaks track record at Wetherby.
We made the long journey up to Wetherby from our base at West Buckland with Nikos Extra. Having looked through the race I was fairly confident the horse would acquit himself well as things had gone against him at Newton Abbot. After he jumped off well, Adam Wedge settled him into a lovely rhythm and despite getting the worse jump at the last he really showed his battling qualities to stay on and lead close home and in doing so breaking the course record. It was another superb day for my Grandmother who has now seen her horse win over £20,000 of prize money this summer. The horse has come out of the race well and holds a few entries over the weekend. A decision on his participation in those races will be made in due course.
There was a lovely piece about his win on the Sporting Life website. Here is the link – it’s well worth a read.

Fuse Wire and Lamubally round off an excellent few days.
After the long journey home with Nikos Extra from Wetherby we again got up early to get everything done in the yard before we went racing again; this time to Wincanton with Fuse Wire and Wolverhampton on the flat with Lamubally later in the evening. Fuse Wire ran over an extended three miles at Wincanton and shaped with some promise just getting run out of the places and finishing fourth picking up some Prize money for his owner Gillian Davis. He has come out of the race well and holds entries at Ffos Las next week and will more than likely take his chance in one of those races.
Lamubally ran a tremendous race at Wolverhampton over 2miles. Louis Steward stepped in at the last minute to take the ride as john Fahy’s attempts to dash from Brighton were thwarted by the traffic. Having been held up in the early stage Lamubally made a sweeping move entering the home straight and battled on gamely to finish fourth again picking up a Prize Money. There were obviously plenty of positives to take from his run and he holds plenty of entries over the coming week and we will attempt to find the most winnable race for him. We purchased him at Newmarket sales and has proved to be a bargain and I am heading back there next week to try and find a similar horse!
