Weekly review 23.10.2015 Helium the star again.

Posted: October 23rd.
R Flint and HeliumWhat a tremendous start to the season it has been with Helium. He ran superbly on his seasonal reappearance last week when narrowly loosing out in a photo and he bettered that run on Wednesday when running out an emphatic 18 length winner under Rhys Flint. Helium has really taken well to fences this season and is another horse to run in the colours of the West Buckland Racing Club who have had a wonderful start to the season. They have had 4 runners so far and it has yielded 3 wins and a second so now is the perfect time to get involved, and in fact, I had a new member sign up this morning. For more information on joining the racing club please click here. I am pleased to report Helium has come out of his race in fantastic form and I’m looking forward to the winter ahead with him.

West Buckland Racing Club with Heliums trophyAfter Helium’s wonderful victory for the West Buckland Racing Club we received a wonderful trophy and on Saturday morning  we welcomed several of the West Buckland Racing Club members to the yard to see Helium and see the trophy he won them at Worcester on Wednesday.

Tomorrow I am back on the racecourse as Royal Chief goes to Wincanton and takes his chance in the 3.15 race. He makes his debut for me tomorrow and this race will tell me which direction to head in for the upcoming season but I can tell you he is very well at home at I expect him to run a solid race and the trip and ground should be fine for him. Adam Wedge will be on board and the horse will wear cheek pieces, headgear that he has worn several times in Ireland.

Looking ahead to next week it looks like it will be a busy week. On Monday Adam Wedge, Rhys Flint and Ian Popham are all scheduled to come to the yard in the morning so we will be schooling several of the horses and then sitting down with them and making some plans as several of the horses will be ready to run in the next couple of week.

After that I will be finish going through the catalogue for the Newmarket Horses In Training sales with my husband Tom and making a list of horses to inspect when we arrive there. If you are interested in joining the successful team here at West Buckland please feel free to contact me for a no obligation conversation.

I have also entered a few horses this week too. Someone Exciting is entered at Kempton on the flat in a 6f nursery on Wednesday night and she is an intended runner and hopefully Cam Hardie will be able to take the ride. She will be making her handicap debut.

I’ve also made entries at Stratford on Thursday and Wetherby on Friday but that is a long way ahead yet and I will have a good look through the races and potential ground conditions before talking to their respective owners before deciding weather the horses are declared or not.

Please keep checking my blog as throughout the season I intend to post at least a weekly update on the goings on here at West Buckland and during the busier times there will be more frequent updates.

I hope you enjoyed reading this latest update and I’ll be back shortly with another update.

Alex Dunn.
