Competitive week with horses continuing to run well

Competitive week with horses continuing to run well We had a busy week last week with several runners due to take their chances in various races throughout the week. Our week started on the flat at Chepstow with Istimraar taking his chance. Despite the Bank Holiday traffic proving challenging Istimraar arrived at Chepstow in plenty of time and ran a race full of promise to finish third beaten less than three lengths. I was pleased with the way Istimraar (pictured here) […]

    Successful Owners Day

Last month we held our annual Owners Day at West Buckland and thankfully the weather was superb and a good time was had by all who attended. After weeks of planning we had our current owners who have had an amazing amount of success with their horses here at West Buckland in attendance as well as plenty of new owners who have joined the yard, either as sole owners, members of partnerships or as Racing Club members. We paraded the horses in the […]

SPRING STEEL SCORES TO CONTINUE YARD FORM.  Spring Steel scored impressively at Newton Abbot yesterday under a very positive ride form Richie McLernon. It was superb for the horse to win and especially satisfying as his owner Nigel Berbillion was on hand to see his horse return to the winners enclosure.  Front Runners usually very hard to catch over 2m at Newton Abbot and Richie got the pace right and used the horses solid jumping to burn his rivals off. DEFINITE RIDGE EXTENDS RACING CLUB’S WINNING RUN

The West Buckland Racing Club has been formed for a year now and Definite Ridge gave the club yet another winner with a gutsy success at Cartmel under a super ride from Richie Mc Lernon. Definite Ridge made a promising stable debut at Newton Abbot when fourth over fences and the track at Cartmel suited him really well and he stayed on to score a shade comfortably. It was good to get a win from a horse who we purchased […]

What a tremendous start to the season at Exeter!! Challico (pictured)  has started the new National Hunt Season off with bang when he recorded a superb victory on his debut in a bumper at Exeter where he received a brilliant ride from Ian Popham to score. Achieving all targets in a record season

The National Hunt Season has drawn to a close. At the start of the season, I set myself the target of winning a total of £100,000 in prize money and 20 jumps winners.  In 2015, we trained our first flat winner in Bleu Astral, he then proceeded to oblige again and won back to back races. The 20th jumps winner was thanks to Trapper Peak who scored at Southwell, he was given a superb ride by Rhys Flint. I had privately set myself a target of getting to £100,000 in Prize Money and I was absolutely thrilled to have passed that at Newton Abbot on Monday. It is very much a team effort here at […]

Helium (pictured here looking superb in the paddock) has been a superstar this season and still remains in the form of his life aged 11. He ran another superb race at Sandown when third at the track on a big Saturday meeting. I was very impressed with the ride Leighton Aspell gave Helium and the pair got on well and Helium enjoyed the experience and ran another fantastic race to finish an honorable third. The long drive to Fakenham on Monday was made very much worthwhile when Entry To Evrywhere scored under Conor O’Farrell. Conor had ridden the horse last time at Taunton and suggested he could win a race if he wore a tongue tie and that combined with a return to fences did the trick. Entry To Evrywhere jumped superbly and steadily drew clear to score by 40 lengths. It was also superb to see the colours of Gill White in the […]

    BLACK NARCISSUS – SHARES AVAILABLE

We have a gorgeous looking mare to offer shares in – Black Narcissus.    She has run seven times in Irish Point To Points and has won once and been placed a further couple of times. NIKOS DOES IT AGAIN

Sofie our travelling head girl makes it her mission to win best turnout every time she comes to the races and she didn't […]

    – GREAT WIN FOR PRINCE TOM – NEW CONDITIONAL APPOINTMENT – SPENDING MY SISTERS SAVINGS. 26/07/14 by Alex Dunn    What better way to start my new blog than to speak about my recent winner Prince Tom. It was a great day for Mr and Mrs Tinknell who have shown tremendous faith by sending me the horse and it was wonderful to reward them with a win at Newton Abbot. He started at 33-1 but I thought he would run well […]
